Ludington woman owes over $17,000 for welfare fraud.

LUDINGTON — A 46-year-old Ludington woman is being ordered to pay back $17,590 as part of a delayed sentence for a conviction of welfare fraud over $500 — failure to inform.

Juanita Lynn Dunlap, of 602 S. Madison St., failed to report her husband’s income to the Department of Health and Human Services, said Mason County Prosecutor Lauren Kreinbrink in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Nov. 23. The sentencing resolution was designed to allow Dunlap to pay the back money, said Kreinbrink. It is her first felony conviction, and she has no criminal record.

Dunlap must pay all balances owed within the 11-month time frame of the delayed sentence, which includes two days in jail with credit for two days served.

A sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 22, 2022 at 1 p.m.
