Funnel clouds possible tonight.

The weather is a presentation of Smith & Eddy Insurance, with offices in Scottville, Ludington, and Manistee:

According to the National Weather Service, funnel clouds are possible this afternoon and evening. Atmospheric conditions are favorable today for the development of funnel clouds. These funnel clouds normally protrude a few 100 feet downward from the base of the cloud and last a few minutes before dissipating. These types of funnel clouds usually do not reach the ground and typically do not pose much hazard. However, on extremely rare occasions, these funnels can briefly touch the ground and produced minimal damage in the form of falling tree limbs and light objects being thrown.

If you spot a funnel cloud, see lightning, or hear thunder, move indoors. Please report funnel clouds or unusual wind damage to 911.

Partly cloudy skies expected tonight with a slight chance of rain. Low temperature of 58 degrees. Wind south-southwest at 4 mph.
