LUDINGTON — The following criminal proceedings took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Misdemeanor Arraignments

-Ashley Rose Forbes, 31, of 606 E. Foster St., Ludington; Oct. 5; Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO); operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .17 or higher. Pretrial: Nov. 8 at 9:45 a.m. Bail: $500 cash.

-Daniel Robert Schultz, 48, of 6171 S. Brye Rd., Summit Township; Sept. 30; MCSO; operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .17 or higher and transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle. Pretrial: Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Rebecca Marie Person, 66, of 405 S. Staffon St., Ludington; Oct. 5; MCSO; operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Pretrial: Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Kayla Jean Johnson, 29, of 3516 W. Hansen Rd., Amber Township; Sept. 2; Michigan State Police (MSP); failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance). Pretrial: Oct. 13 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $500 personal recognizance.

Sentencings

-Julie Kay Modrok, 45, of 412 Thornwild, Apt. A3, Scottville, pleaded guilty Oct. 1 to operating a vehicle while impaired by liquor (OWIL) and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; must continue current counseling program; must not possess controlled substances without a prescription; must complete alcohol highway safety education; and $695 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).

-Julie Ann Prachar, 49, of 807 S. Madison St., Apt. 2, Ludington, pleaded guilty Oct. 1 to disorderly person jostling and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for 30 days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with the victim; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; must follow after care requirements of rehab; must have substance use evaluation; and $310 in fines/costs. 

-Penny Rae Welch, 44, of 11816 Morton Rd., Manistee, pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to false pretenses and was sentenced to 14 days in jail with credit for 14 days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; $1,000 in restitution; and $435 in fines/costs. May perform 44 hours of community service in lieu of paying fines/costs. A felony charge of false pretenses over $1,000 was dismissed.

-Alan Keith Brown, 71, of 1458 N. Tuttle Rd., Custer Township, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor (OUIL) and was sentenced to 31 days in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol/controlled substances/marijuana; subject to random breath tests and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $1,070 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of operating with a blood alcohol level more than .17 was dismissed.

-Jennifer Lynn White, 41, of 1348 Crooks St., Green Bay, Wisconsin, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to operating a vehicle while impaired by liquor (OWIL) and was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victims impact panel; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; must attend substance abuse counseling; and $895 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. 

Dismissals

-Gary Lee Andres, 70, of 501 N. Washington Ave., Apt. 1, Ludington, had charges of unlawful license plates and failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) dismissed after pleading guilty to civil infractions of no proof on insurance and no proof of registration.
