Medical mandate protest planned for Saturday.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A local rally, coinciding with a national rally, is being planned on Saturday, Aug. 28 protesting medical mandates in relation to COVID-19. The rally will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Mason County Courthouse (note, this location was changed).

Event organizer Jennie Wilson said the event is in protest of medical mandates, such as mask wearing requirements or vaccination status requirements.

“I am standing up for truth,” Wilson said. “I am fighting for our right to just say no. I want to ignite a fire within people to get out and fight for our right to choose. There are rights that are forcefully being taken away. I want others to see that we can be united and fearlessly fight against medical tyranny in a world paralyzed by fear.

“We are given free will but people have become complacent due to fear mongering.  Fear is the driving force behind these medical mandates and we must stand in opposition or we will end up as the Jews did,” Wilson said, referring to the Holocaust where German Nazis killed millions of Jews and required them to wear Stars of David on their clothing to show that they were Jewish.

“If a vaccine passport doesn’t send chills down your back, then you do not remember the yellow star that Jews were told to wear. If something has to be forced, then there is obviously something very ominous behind it.”

Wilson said the event coincides with a nationwide event. Participants are discouraged from wearing party affiliation clothing but encouraged to wear red, white, and blue, she said, adding that signs are also OK.
