FiveCAP offering assistance for septic, water, plumbing

SCOTTVILLE — FiveCAP is offering septic and well repair and replacement, and plumbing assistance for eligible households.

The program provides a variety of water repairs, including interior and exterior plumbing work, in addition to well and septic repairs for rural households; so homes can have access to hot and cold water, and at least one functioning toilet, shower, kitchen faucet and laundry tub.

Funding is made available as part of Michigan’s Coronavirus Relief Funding, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Water Repair Assistance program.

Funding is available now until Dec. 30, 2020. Income eligibility is at 200 percent federal poverty level based on a 30-day income calculation.

Residents, renters and home owners interested in water, plumbing and septic repair services can make an appointment for an application at their local FiveCAP office, located in Baldwin for Lake County, Scottville for Mason County, White Cloud for Newaygo County, and Manistee for Manistee County.

Estimates or bids submitted with applications from a licensed and insured plumber will speed up services, said FiveCAP Executive Director Mary Trucks. If the estimate is reasonable, FiveCAP will assist in funding repairs. If a renter is applying for water, plumbing and septic repair, prior written approval from their landlord is needed.

In addition to water assistance, FiveCAP also provides utility and appliance assistance for eligible households, including washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and freezer repair or replacement.

For more information, contact FiveCAP at (231)745-4617, or stop by the Lake County office for an application, located at 2476 W. 44th St., Baldwin.
