HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — The annual Joe Lancour Memorial Scholarship Golf Scramble will take place Friday, Aug. 28, at The Hemlock Golf Course. Today on MCP’s The Scoop, Kate Krieger-Watkins speaks with Tyler Reed about the fund raiser. Lancour was a 2004 graduate of Ludington High School who was killed by small arms fire during an ambush in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan on Nov. 10, 2007 while serving in the U.S. Army as a specialist. Lancour’s mother Starla Owens started the Joe Lancour Memorial Scholarship in 2009 which has been awarded to a Ludington High School graduate.
