Woman injured in Branch Twp. crash.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 36-year-old Branch area woman was seriously injured following a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Masten and Wilson roads Monday afternoon. Emergency personnel were called to the scene at 5:50 p.m. The woman was driving a Dodge minivan northbound on Masten Road when she came up to another northbound vehicle and apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to rollover and land in the trees. The other vehicle was not struck in the crash.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and then was expected to be transported by Aeromed to a Grand Rapids trauma center.

Responding emergency units included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Branch Township Fire Department, and Life EMS. Custer Fire Department’s extrication unit was initially called but disregarded.

According to sheriff’s deputies on scene, alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
