SCOTTVILLE — Scottville police arrested a 27-year-old Grand Rapids man Tuesday night, May 26, on charges of operating while intoxicated and reckless driving after the man was driving at speeds between 120-130 mph, according to Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy.

Scottville police were patrolling the 200 block of East State Street Tuesday around 9 p.m. when a black passenger car traveling eastbound went past the patrol unit, Chief Murphy said.

“Scottville Police Department observed the vehicle passing cars well over 100 mph as the vehicle continued east out of town,” said Murphy. “Scottville police were able to get the vehicle safely stopped after catching up to the vehicle in the Branch area on US 10. While attempting to stop the vehicle, speeds ranged from 120 mph to 130 mph.

“After an investigation, the 27-year-old male was arrested for OWI and reckless driving.”
