SCOTTVILLE — A father and son were arrested Sunday, May 17, shortly after 1 a.m. following a reported breaking and entering in progress on Taylors Court north of Broadway Avenue, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Kevin James Kaiser, 26, of 215 S. State St., Hart, is charged with aggravated stalking and attempted first-degree home invasion. Both are felonies punishable by up to five years in prison.

Jeffery Kaiser

Jeffery Allen Kaiser, 57, of 209 S. Rowe St., Ludington, faces charges of accessory after the fact to a felony — aggravated stalking and accessory after the fact to a felony — attempted home invasion. Both are felonies punishable by up to five years in prison.

“As the first two deputies were arriving on scene they observed a vehicle parked in the road near the scene,” said Sheriff Cole. “This information was passed onto a Michigan State Police trooper, who also was responding to the call, and made contact with two persons in this vehicle. Deputies found evidence that indicated there was an attempted entry into the home and that the two persons in the vehicle, 57-year-old Jeffery Allen Kaiser and his 26-year-old son, Kevin James Kaiser, had a connection to the victim with the younger Kaiser having been in a two-year relationship with the reported victim. Kevin Kaiser also had a valid personal protection order out of Mason County against him keeping him from the alleged victim.”

Both men were arrested at the scene and remain lodged in the Mason County Jail. Jeffery Kaiser’s bail was set at $5,000, 10% deposit, and Kevin Kaiser is lodged on a $25,000 cash bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in 79th District Court at 1:30 p.m. on May 27, 2020.
