Miss Ludington Area seeking donors, applicants for scholarship.

LUDINGTON — Miss Ludington Area 2020 Madelyn Shamel is currently raising funds for a $1,000 scholarship which will be rewarded to an area high school senior.

Shamel, has a personal social impact initiative (formerly called platform) titled: Flourish: Cultivating Confidence Through Community. Through this initiative, she aims to grow stronger communities and support systems for everyone. In the spirit of community,

Shamel said she wants to help a high school senior achieve his/her dreams. “Just one year ago, I was in their same shoes,” Shamel said. “Getting ready to graduate and start that next adventure, which is really exciting and can be scary, but even crazier in the middle of a global pandemic. Scholarship money can help ease the transition and grow confidence for these students’ futures. With the help of our amazing community, together we can fund a scholarship to support our students.”

Donations can be made anonymously or a note may be added for the recipient.

DONATION TIERS:
If you donate:

• $150-plus: you get an afternoon of yard work! Get your spring clean up done!
• $100-140: You get a self-care basket full of several goodies for all of your quarantine self-care needs.
• $50-99: A personalized video from Miss Ludington, she can read your kiddos a book, wish someone happy birthday, talk about her social impact initiative or her year as Miss Ludington Area.
• $1-50: Homemade cookies or brownies (dessert can be modified per request)

Flourish Scholarship Application:

Creating community wherever you are is so crucial. Where good communities are, confidence flourishes. Write 300-500 words describing how you have created community right where you are. It can be in classes, on sports teams, in clubs, in youth group, at work, etc. Describe specific times you have created community where people felt heard, known, and loved.
