2 kayakers rescued from PM River.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl, who are both from Saginaw, were rescued from the Pere Marquette River Monday morning, May 4, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The water emergency occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. off South Landon Road.

“Emergency crews were called to a reported female hanging onto a downed tree in the PM River after she reportedly tipped a kayak over,” Sheriff Cole said. “While a deputy was attempting to get her out of the river, a second kayaker began to struggle and became hung up on a log. The deputy was able to get a rescue throw rope to them to secure them until Branch Fire Department arrived and was able to get them out of the water.”

The pair were treated at the scene by Life EMS and then released with no injuries.
