Scoreboard tribute to honor LHS class of ’20.

LUDINGTON — The Ludington High School Class of 2020 will be honored with a scoreboard tribute at Oriole Field for the next four Fridays beginning April 24.

“This year’s senior class is an exceptional group who are unfortunately having to live through unprecedented times,” said Principal Dan Mesyar. “However, just as they have persevered through the past 12 years of academics, performances, athletics, social situations and more, they continue to persevere in the face of having their traditional senior year cut short. Many of them are finishing required courses online with their LHS teachers, preparing for an online Advanced Placement exam, wrapping up career technical education requirements at a distance or polishing up and submitting scholarship applications.”

“The COVID-19 outbreak may have altered the end of their senior year, but it has not broken their Oriole spirit,” Mesyar said.

The name and photo of each LHS senior will scroll on the video scoreboard at Oriole Field every Friday night starting this week through the date of the class’ regularly scheduled graduation, May 22.  It will start at 8 p.m. and conclude at 9:15 p.m.

“This tribute is meant to honor our LHS seniors, while maintaining the safety and health of all our community members,” Mesyar said. “We encourage people to drive by, but to remain in their cars and observe proper social distancing at all times.”
