Felony drug charges top 79th District Court arraignments

LUDINGTON — The following criminal activity cases occurred recently in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felonies

Verboam

-Dalton Joseph Verboam, 28, of 607 E. Danaher St., Ludington, was arrested Feb. 16 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy) and possession of a controlled substance (analogues). Probable cause hearing: Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash/surety.

Newman

-David Gene Newman, 47, street address not listed, Grand Haven, was arrested Feb. 15 by MCSO on a felony charge of larceny between $1,000 to $20,000. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $7,500/10 percent.

Sobers

-Jeremy Richard Sobers, 43, street address not listed, Ludington, was arrested Aug. 1, 2019 by MCSO on a felony charge of larceny between $1,000 to $20,000. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

Misdemeanors

-Matthew Edward Kernozek, 31, of 922 E. Tinkham Ave., Ludington; Feb. 18; Ludington Police Department (LPD); stalking. Pretrial: March 9 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

-Andrew Arthur Adams, 34, of 1706 Division Ave., Grand Rapids; Feb. 13; LPD; public intoxication. Pretrial: Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

-Timothy Munoz Ratliff, 26, of 1619 W. First St., Amber Township; Feb. 8; LPD; operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Pretrial: Feb. 24 at 9:15 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

Sentencings

-Jacob Ellis Lauer, 22, of 3705 W. Anthony Rd., Riverton Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to improper possession of a firearm and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must forfeit the firearm and ammunition to the State of Michigan; and $285 in fines/costs. Charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, felony firearms, and habitual offender were dismissed.
