The Scoop: Ludington O-Bots robotics team.

LUDINGTON – Today on MCP’s The Scoop, Kate Krieger-Watkins visits with the Ludington High School O’Bots robotics team. With its first competition in a few weeks, the team is gearing up with a new year of tasks and a new robot. The 17 member team is coached by Karen and Cary Shineldecker, along with many other adult mentors. This is the third year robotics has been a part of Ludington High School and the team numbers continue to grow each year and the team continues to grow competitively as well. Working long hours after school and on weekends, the team will head to Traverse City, February 27-29 to compete in the first of many FIRST Robotics Competitions held around the state and world-wide. The season’s theme is “Infinite Recharge,” which is in partnership with Lucasfilm as part of its Star Wars: Force for Change initiative. FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” and is an international high school robotics competition, which runs from January until May each year. The O-Bots team has qualified for the World Competition the last two years. For more information about the O-Bots, check out its Facebook page and contact Ludington Area Schools at 231.845.7303.

The Scoop is a presentation of West Shore Bank and Betten Baker Ford of Ludington.
