Verdict expected Thursday in trial involving Branch Twp. man accused of assaulting deputy.

LUDINGTON — A trial in 51st Circuit Court involving a Branch Township man accused of assaulting a Mason County sheriff deputy is expected to end Thursday.

Robb Ray Dodson, 54, of 6925 E. Bockstandz Road, was arrested Feb. 13, 2019 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on a felony charge of resisting/assaulting/obstructing a police officer. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Dodson was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. that day in the 6600 block of East US 10 after he allegedly assaulted Sgt. John Balowski who had been investigating a child custody matter. Balowski has since left the sheriff’s office for a job with another law enforcement agency.

The jury is expected to reach a verdict Thursday. Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer is punishable by up to two years imprisonment.
