LUDINGTON — A 39-year-old Ludington man was sentenced to serve eight months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term for convictions of delivery of heroin less than 50 grams and possession of fentanyl less than 25 grams in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Thomas James Robinson, Jr., of 1006 Olmstead St., pleaded guilty to the charges Dec. 17.

Since Robinson had been incarcerated since May 28, he already served his time up front. He received credit for 240 days served in jail.

“Clearly, Mr. Robinson has a history with controlled substances,” said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Sentencing guidelines in the delivery case are 10-46 months and 0-17 months in the possession case.

Robinson was also ordered to serve two years probation.

He originally faced charges in two separate criminal files of maintaining a drug house, a second count of delivery less than 50 grams of heroin, delivery less than 50 grams of fentanyl and fourth-offense habitual offender, which were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Robinson admitted to Judge Susan K. Sniegowski that he delivered heroin on Olmstead Street in the City of Ludington, Jan. 8, 2019. He also admitted that he was in possession of fentanyl in Pere Marquette Township, May 28, 2019.

Delivery of heroin less than 50 grams is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

According to the Offender Tracking Information System, Robinson has the following convictions and sentences with the Michigan Department of Corrections:

– carrying a concealed weapon: two years and 10 months to 10 years, June 28, 2011, Muskegon County;

– breaking and entering a coin-operated device: one and a half to three years, Aug. 19, 2003, Lake County; and

– weapons – felony firearms: two years, Nov. 4, 2002, Muskegon County.
