Spring Community Auction scheduled for March 7.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The 25th annual Spring CommUNITY Auction will be held on Saturday, March 7 at Graystone Event Center, 4079 W. US 10. This year’s theme is Lights, Camera, Auction: Silver Screen.

Live and silent auctions will be featured in the Hollywood-themed event, where bidders will vie for hunting items, jewelry, cameras, trips and more. Hundreds of items will be showcased, sure to please community members in attendance.

As the City of Scottville’s Downtown Development Authority prepares to purchase the Scottville Optimist Center, it was discovered recently that the mechanical system is not working up to standards that may not be comfortable for auction attendees. According to Scottville Optimist President Joe Knowles, the investment in fixing the system at this time isn’t feasible due to the renovation plans. For this reason, the committee has chosen to change the venue until renovations are completed.

“We appreciate the years of service from the Optimist Club and look forward to coming back next year,” said Gary Andersen, Committee Chair.

The annual spring auction helps fund educational programming for Mason County Central Schools and is co-sponsored by the Mason County Central Educational Foundation and the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Admission tickets are $25 each or two for $45 and include bid number, beverages and appetizers. They are available at the Chamber of Commerce, the Mason County Central Schools Business Office, Squires Family Care Chiropractic, and Smith & Eddy Insurance. The auction will begin at 6 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Raffle tickets are also on sale now, with chances to win $500 cash, a hand-made quilt and a $300 Cabela’s gift card. Tickets are $5 each, 5 for $20, or 15 for $50. Raffle tickets are also available at the above-listed sites.

In addition to being one of Scottville’s acclaimed events, the Spring CommUNITY Auction raises funds for:

  • Mason County Central school projects
  • Scholarships and opportunities for Mason County Central students
  • Business-development programs which help build a stronger community
  • Educational, community services and events.
