LUDINGTON — Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital will hold an open house celebrating the opening of its newly renovated 8,900 square feet birthing center on Tuesday, Jan. 14 beginning at 5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.

The center has eight all-new rooms with in-suite bathrooms and sofa sleepers, whirlpool tubs in two of the labor and delivery rooms and specially designed infant cradle sinks in postpartum rooms so that parents can participate in baby’s first bath.

The updated center also includes enhanced infant security. The birthing center was designed with a focus on patient comfort, access and security: the nursing station is designed to promote interactions between staff and patients, and a state-of-the-art fetal monitoring system allows nurses to track a baby’s status from anywhere in the center.
