LUDINGTON — The first baby born in 2020 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital was Lucy Paul Chavalia, born on Jan. 2, at 7:57 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and measuring 21 inches. Lucy is the daughter of Lacie Sroka and Chris Chavalia of Ludington, who also have a 2-year-old daughter, Claire. “Claire is going to be a great big sister,” said Lacie.

Lacie and Chris said they are pleased that Lucy is the designated New Year’s baby.  “When I came into the hospital, I wasn’t even thinking about that,” said Lacie. 

 “It was a race to get it,” Chris chuckled. “It was very close with another mom delivering yesterday, but Lucy made her appearance first.”

For having the first baby born in the new year, Lacie and Chris received a gift basket with diapers, t-shirt, blanket, teethers and other items.
