COLFAX TOWNSHIP (Oceana Co.) – A 63-year-old Colfax Township man was arrested for felonious assault after allegedly stabbing his 61-year-old wife in the hand with a large kitchen knife Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the 8700 block of East Ruth Drive near Ruby Creek, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

“The wife was arrested in November in Mason County for drunk driving, which caused issues at home with her husband,” Mast said. An argument ensued over her recent arrest.

The woman was stabbed in between her thumb and index finger on her left hand. She refused medical treatment.

The husband also suffered a few cuts to his hands after the wife gained control of the knife at one point.

The man was arrested by deputies and lodged in the Oceana County Jail. He has not yet been arraigned, so his name is not being released.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, Mast said.
