Scottville man seriously injured in early morning crash.

RIVERTON TOWNSHIP – A 65-year-old Scottville man was seriously injured after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 4:41 a.m. on Chauvez Road east of Morton Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Gary Langfeldt, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS and then transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for serious injuries, Cole said.

Langfeldt, who was trapped in the vehicle, was extricated by Ludington Jaws of Life. The Riverton Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

  • 7:07 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Tuttle Road, Custer Township.
  • Noon, (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Maple Road east of Tamarack Road Hamlin Township.
  • 7:53 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 27-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI), North Lakeshore Drive, City of Ludington.
