SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Custer man was arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Nov. 17, and charged with felony assault – strangulation/domestic violence following an incident in the 4700 block of East Fisher Road. MCSO and Michigan State Police were dispatched at 12:43 a.m. to a report of an assault and person being struck by a vehicle, according to Sheriff Kim Cole. While deputies responded to the call, an MSP trooper located the suspect vehicle and pulled it over.

“It is alleged by the 17-year-old victim that the suspect had choked him nearly unconscious and then struck him with a vehicle following an argument,” Cole said.

The suspect was also charged with driving while under the influence and probation violation, related to the MSP traffic stop on Reek Road near Fisher Road.
