LUDINGTON – A 46-year-old Sheridan Township man faces serving up to one year in jail after pleading guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Nov. 5, to attempted assault by strangulation and third-offense habitual offender.

Bernard Joe Bovee, of 6590 E. Beech St., testified that on Sept. 16 he and his girlfriend got into an argument and he attempted to assault her by strangulation.

The balance of jail time is unconditional, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. Sentencing guidelines in the case are 7-34 months.

Bovee was convicted in Mason County in 2002 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and and fourth-degree CSC, Spaniola said.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 17 at 1:45 p.m.
