CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Izeek Joe Ratliff, 21, of Scottville died Friday evening as a result of a single vehicle crash on North Tuttle Road. Ratliff was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu car, converted to a demolition derby vehicle, northbound on Tuttle Road south of Filburn Road, when the vehicle apparently “drifted right, went off the road and struck an embankment,” according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. Ratliff was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cole said the vehicle was not road legal.

“At this point in the investigation it is unclear why the vehicle left the roadway,” Cole said. “Crash investigators with the MCSO will be examining the vehicle in an effort to determine if there was a mechanical failure which could have contributed to the crash.  Toxicology tests are also pending.”

Emergency personnel responding to the crash included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Custer Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.
