LUDINGTON — A 44-year-old Scottville man was recently sentenced to two to 15 years in prison in 51st Circuit Court for a conviction of third-degree criminal sexual conduct – victim age 13-15.

David Joseph Wildfong, of 159. W Kistler Rd., pleaded “no contest,” Aug. 19, to the felony and was sentenced, Sept. 23, according to court records.

“Our victim was a very brave young lady who stood up and spoke up about the abuse she suffered, which was committed by a family friend in a plural number of jurisdictions,” said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. “Without her bravery in coming forward, this abuse could have continued for a long time.”

Wildfong was arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office March 6, 2019 following a two-week investigation. He was also charged with fourth-degree CSC, which was dismissed in a plea agreement.

He will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Third-degree CSC is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment, and fourth-degree CSC is a high-court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years imprisonment.

Wildfong, who received credit for two days served in jail, was also ordered to pay $1,425.93 in restitution and $258 in fines and costs.

Spaniola said he was not able to answer the question regarding what the restitution amount is for.
