Team Rubicon assists with clearing trees for Habitat for Humanity.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Team Rubicon has been in the area this weekend working on tree removal for a property owned by Habitat for Humanity of Mason County.  The property is located on Snead Drive and was donated by the Loft Family in 2015.  The property has been designated, by the organization for a veteran build and as a component to that vision Team Rubicon was scheduled to complete the tree removal as a “sawyer training”.  The training served as a certification for members of Team Rubicon, in preparation for future disaster relief efforts.

Team Rubicon is a group of primarily veterans, emergency personnel and some civilians who deploy to areas of the country in need of disaster relief.

In a jointed effort to bring Team Rubicon to the area, space for them to sleep was provided by Mason County Reformed Church of Amber Township and cots were utilized from the American Red Cross.

An individual/family of the Armed Forces has not yet been identified for the veteran build, but the search continues.  Qualifications are income below 120% area median income, one or more members of the household who have served in the Armed Forces, willingness to partner with Habtitat for Humanity, and ability to qualify for a mortgage (credit repair support is available).
