Back to School Backpack Bonanza is Friday.

LUDINGTON — A Back to School Backpack Bonanza, organized by Staircase Youth Services, will be held on Friday, Aug. 23 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Ludington Area Jaycees Mini Golf, located at Stearns Park.

The free event includes a free backpack and a free round of mini golf. Participants will receive a free school supply item at each hole completed. A parent/guardian must be present in order to for children to participate. Parents can also play for free by completing a Jaycees survey.

Also at the event, the Michigan State Police will be holding car seat checks, Ludington Fire Department and Pere Marquette Fire Department will have fire trucks on display. Ludington Police Department will be helping pass out backpacks. There will be also be door prizes given out such as free haircuts and Wesco cards/cups.

The event is limited to the first 300 participants. Transportation will be available, upon request, for families in Scottville, Custer, and Walhalla. Arrangements can be made by contacting Kerry Terryn at 231-233-4926.
