51st Circuit Court sentencings, posted July 19, 2019. 

LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court:

Trombley

-Christine Marie Trombley, 47, of 706 N. Delia St., Ludington, pleaded guilty to attempted carry of a concealed weapon on May 28. She was sentenced to 365 days in jail with credit for two days served; 12 months of probation; and $685 in fines/costs. A charge of carrying a concealed weapon was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Broersma

-Matthew Jon Broersma, 41, of 1751 E. Major Rd., Eden Township, pleaded guilty May 7 to receiving and concealing stolen property between $1,000-$20,000 and malicious destruction of a building between $1,000-$20,000. He was sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison with credit for 768 days served; $20,692.40 in restitution; and $266 in fines/costs. As part of a plea agreement, charges of second offense habitual offender and malicious destruction of property between $1,000-$20,000 were dismissed.

Young

-Jeffrey Clay Young, 49, Mason County Jail, pleaded guilty May 28 to uttering and publishing and was sentenced to 365 days in jail with credit for 91 days served; 24 months of probation; nine months of jail to be served up front with the remainder to be served at the court’s discretion; $220.70 in restitution; and $658 in fines/costs. As part of a plea agreement, two additional charges of uttering and publishing along with fourth offense habitual offender were dismissed.

Smith

-Todd Allen Smith, 47, of 2132 N. 56th Ave., Mears, pleaded guilty May 28 to assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and using a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 365 days in jail with credit for 105 days served; 24 months of probation; must serve four months of jail time up front with the balance to be served at the court’s discretion; and $708 in fines/costs. As part of a plea agreement, two counts of possession of a controlled substance were dismissed.

Totten

-Donnie Ray Totten, III, 24, of 1085 E. Hawley Rd., Eden Township, pleaded guilty May 14 to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 365 days in jail with credit for 126 days served; 18 months of probation; must serve 126 days of jail time up front with the balance to be served at the court’s discretion; driver’s license suspended for 60 days and restricted for 305 days; and $658 in fines/costs. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of second offense habitual offender was dismissed.
