Jail visitor turns into jail inmate.

LUDINGTON – A 39-year-old Grand Rapids man who came to the Mason County Jail to visit an inmate Sunday morning, June 30, became a jail inmate himself after he was arrested on a warrant by Mason County sheriff’s deputies, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

During the routine check, deputies learned of a statewide civil warrant out of the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, said Sheriff Cole.

Friday, June 28, 2019:

• 12:40 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 28-year-old Brethren woman was arrested for operating without insurance, Quarterline and Townline roads, Grant Township.
• 11:32 a.m., (MSP), gas drive-off, Scottville EZ Mart, Custer Township.
• 11:54 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Fisher Road, Hamlin Township.
• 3:28 p.m., (MCSO), assist to fire department, Neil Road, Hamlin Township.
• 4:51 p.m., (MCSO), a 44-year-old Walkerville man was arrested for retail fraud following an investigation by MCSO and Walmart Loss Prevention, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
• 7:11 p.m., (MCSO), larceny, 3000 block of North Stiles Road, Victory Township. The victim reported cash stolen from a wallet.
• 8:41 p.m., (MCSO), a 25 year-old Ludington man was cited following a traffic stop for driving while license suspended (DWLS), State Street and Reinberg Road, City of Scottville.

Saturday, June 29, 2019:

• 2: 16 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 30-year-old Ludington man was cited for possession of alcohol at Stearns’ Park, City of Ludington.
• 3:10 a.m., (LPD), a 42-year-old Walkerville man was arrested for public intoxication, Danaher and Emily streets, City of Ludington.
• 5:52 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Quarterline Road south of Treml Road, Grant Township. Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash with no injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found both vehicle occupants were  intoxicated. However, neither would admit to driving. A 32-year-old Manistee man was arrested for open intoxicants and violation of felony probation out of Manistee County. A 25-year-old Manistee man was arrested for open intoxicants. Both were lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 11:49 a.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $33.47 in fuel stolen, Scottville EZ Mart, 400 block of East US 10, Custer Township.
• 10:55 a.m., (MSP), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, Brye Road and US 10, Amber Township.
• 12:02 p.m,. (LPD), a 21-year-old Pentwater man was arrested on a bench warrant from Kent County, 100 block of James Street, City of Ludington.
• 1 p.m., (MSP), a 76-year-old Ludington man was arrested for assault, 5000 block of North Stiles Road, Victory Township.
• 2:06 p.m., gas drive-off Ludington EZ Mart, Pere Marquette Township.
• 9:51 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Quarterline Road, Amber Township.

• 1:34 a.m, (LPD), a 33-year-old Ludington man was arrested for DWLS, Filer and William streets, City of Ludington.
• 1:54 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Free Soil Township.
• 2:09 a.m., (LPD), a 55-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI), Deila and Foster streets, City of Ludington.
• 7:18 a.m., (MCSO), ​a 31-year-old Portage, Michigan man was arrested for OWI and open intoxicants following a reported suspicious vehicle call, Days Inn, 7500 block of South Pere Marquette Highway, Summit Township. The driver, when approached by a MCSO deputy, started the vehicle and attempted to drive away.
• 11:16 a.m,. (LPD), a 30-year-old Ludington man was arrested for probation violation and on a bench warrant from Kent County, 400 block of East Fourth Street, City of Ludington.
• 1:37 p.m., (MSP), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 and US 10, Amber Township.
• 4:17 p.m., (MCSO), a 47-year-old Ludington man was arrested for retail fraud following an investigation by MCSO and Walmart LP, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
• 4:35 p.m,. (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Dennis Road south of Johnson Road, Amber Township.
