LUDINGTON – A 42-year-old Ludington man was sentenced in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, June 25, to serve 90 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term for a third-offense domestic violence conviction.

Eric James Friedley, of 5731 Limouze St., pleaded guilty to third-offense domestic violence, May 7. It is his first felony conviction, said his attorney, Al Swanson, Jr.

Friedley was also ordered to have no contact with the victim for the alcohol-fueled assault.

Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-11 months, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Friedley was also ordered to one and a half years probation by Judge Susan K. Sniegowski. The judge allowed work release as long as it meets the requirements of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Friedley received credit for two days served in jail.

“You have a serious alcohol problem,” Judge Sniegowski said. “Your alcohol problem is going to kill you if you don’t take care of it.”
