Obituary: Josephine Ramsden, 95, Ludington.

Josephine A. Ramsden, 95, of Ludington passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 25, 2019.

Josephine was born on July 16, 1923 in Mason County, the daughter of John and Mary (Stryman) Verschueren.  She was married to Mike Horvath Sr. on February 2, 1941 , and he preceded her in death. She married Sylvester Ramsden on August 22, 1981 in Ludington. He also preceded her in death.

After retirement, Josephine spent her time travelling, making rosaries, knitting, and playing games. She was an active member of St. Simon Parish, and loved spending time with her family.

Josephine is survived by her children, Robert M. Horvath of Ludington, Kenneth R. Horvath of Lenoir City, Tenn., Jerome F. Horvath of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Susan (Charles) K. Astrauskas of Pentwater; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands, Josephine was also preceded in death by her sons, Mike Horvath Jr.; two daughters, Joanne Gocek and Dorothy Mayfield; grandson, Jeremy Horvath; great-granddaughter, Kaleena Stepka; three  brothers, Marcel Verschueren, James Verschueren, and John Verschueren; and three sisters, Lucine Adams, Mary Ball, Theresa Miles.

A mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church, with Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr. presiding.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be held on Monday, April 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Simon Catholic Church, or any charity of your choice.
