MCC Middle School presents one-act plays.

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central Middle School’s theater program will be presenting an evening of one-act plays on Easter weekend. These family friendly short shows will be performed at the A.O. Carlson Auditorium at MCC High School Thursday, April 18, Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m.  All admission is $3.

The first of the evening’s one-acts is entitled “13 Signs You Should Stop Being a Pirate.” This is a fun and often silly show about a young pirate with dreams of a different career. Among her issues with piracy are an aversion to violence, a vegetarian lifestyle and a desire for a kitten rather than a parrot. This cast includes sixth graders Victoria Chaple, Dakota Mallion, Conner Smogoleski and Callee Bourgette and seventh graders Sara Abbott, Adriana Donahue and Alyssa Raspotnik.

After a brief intermission, the audience will be treated to a second one-act, “In the Garden of the Selfish Giant.” This piece is an honest look at family, loss and pre-teen friendship.  Maggie has come to her mother’s hometown for the summer to visit her dying grandmother, whom she has never met. She befriends a neighborhood girl, Brianna, who helps her find life’s whimsy in the midst of difficult times.  This cast includes seventh graders Holly Bowen and Emma Jancek and eighth graders Cloe Frederick and Sydney Horacek.
