Obituary: Merretta McCormick, 89, of Fountain.

Merretta McCormick, 89, of Fountain passed away on March 20, 2019 surrounded by her family.  Merretta was born on December 21, 1929 in Ludington, the daughter of Orel and Grace (Marcellus) Campbell and graduated from Scottville High School with the class of 1949.  On April 8, 1951 she married Gilford McCormick at her parents’ home, in the same room where she went to be with her Lord.  Gilford and Merretta celebrated 60 years together before he preceded her in death in 2011.

Merretta loved her family and loved to care for them.  As a farmer’s wife, she was always available to help Gilford on the farm and was very well known for her cooking and baking.  Her baking skills were often put to use making and decorating wedding and birthday cakes for her family and friends.  She also liked to spend time sewing and working on crafts, but saved her best time for spoiling her grandsons Jesse and Josh.

Merretta will be greatly missed by her son, Wilford and his wife Crystal, who was more like a daughter; her grandsons Jesse and Josh; and her sister-in-law Clarice Krupinski.

Private family services will be held for Merretta on Saturday, March 23 at Wyman Funeral and Cremation Services in Scottville with Ray Haner officiating.  Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery later this spring.
