Manistee woman faces jail for writing bad checks.

LUDINGTON –– A 30-year-old Manistee woman faces serving 90 days of a one-year discretionary jail term after pleading guilty in 51st Circuit Court Monday, March 18, to uttering and publishing.

Amy Lynn Witkowski, of 276 1/2 11th St., testified that she stole checks from a vehicle in Manistee and then wrote bad checks in Ludington area stores – Walmart, Meijer and Airport Shell EZ Mart. Two individuals are also listed as victims in her court file.

Witkowski has already been prosecuted in Manistee County for stealing the checks, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Sentencing in Mason County is set for April 30 at 1:30 p.m.

Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-11 months.
