George Hansen

Obituary: George Hansen, 91, Scottville.

George E. Hansen, 91, of Scottville, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019, after a long life filled with many blessings.

He was born December 26, 1927 in Grant Township of Mason County to John and Dagmar (Christiansen) Hansen.  George attended school at Pelton Corners and Scottville. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country at the end of World War II.  George and his four brothers all served in World War II and all returned home to marry and build their lives.

George returned to Mason County and married Joyce Martz in 1950 (Joyce passed away in February of 2015).  George had a career working for the Mason County Road Commission and drove a grader for most of his 37-plus-year career.

George enjoyed the fellowship of family, friends, and those that would stop in front of his home to look or buy one of the great treasures he was always selling.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and was an avid set back player, astounding many with his wiley bidding strategies.

George will be sadly missed by his children, Debbie and Robert Sterley, John and Joan (Lange) Hansen; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; his church (Peace Lutheran of Ludington); and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister Mable, brothers Donald, Leslie, Charles, Richard, and Harold.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A service will take place at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington on Saturday March 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. with internment in Grant Township Cemetery this spring.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, www.oakgroveludington.com.
