79th District Court sentencings, posted March 1, 2019

LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

-Melinda Rae Kalis, 48, of 109 S. Columbia St., Scottville, pleaded guilty Feb. 20 to assault and battery and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; may not have/buy/use controlled substances or marijuana without prescription; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $795 in fines/costs. May perform 50 hours of community service in lieu of paying fines/costs. A charge of assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer was dismissed.

-Heather Marie Tatro, 35, of 929 N. Gaylord Ave., Ludington, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to domestic violence and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with credit for 23 days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with the victim; and must continue current counseling program. A charge of assault and battery was dismissed.

-Melvin David Case, 48, of 165 N. Stiles Rd., Amber Township, pleaded no contest Feb. 12 to domestic violence and aggravated assault and was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; one year discretionary jail for two years; must obtain Soberlink for six months; must have substance abuse evaluation; no drugs/alcohol; no contact with the victim; and $645 in fines/costs. A charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder was dismissed.

-Daniel Marsden Cordova, 36, of 139 Walhalla Rd., Branch Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 26 to operating while impaired by a controlled substance and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend AA two times per week for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must not have/buy/use controlled substances without a prescription; must obtain substance abuse counseling; and $1,075 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).

-Arneva Lily Tyler, 21, of 108 S. Reinburg Ave., Scottville, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to  93 days in jail with credit for 93 days served and $187.50 in fines/costs.

-Nathan Keur Zuber, 41, of 9325 US 10, Branch Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 19 to third degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 93 days in jail with credit for 93 days served and $315 in fines/costs.

-John Paul Hasbany, 37, of 1828 Barbara Ln., Harrison, pleaded guilty Feb. 19 to operating while impaired by liquor (OUIL) and was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact weekend; must have substance abuse evaluation; no drugs/alcohol; may not buy/use/have marijuana or controlled substances without a prescription; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $1,275 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of refusal to obey a traffic order by a police officer was dismissed.

-Arturo Ysabel Lopez, 35, of 2280 E. Ferry St., Shelby, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to bond absconding and was sentenced to 17 days in jail with credit for 17 days served and 90 days discretionary jail for six months. Charges of failure to stop after an accident and driving while license suspended were dismissed.

-Thomas Anthony Ruggero, 48, of 5177 S. Pere Marquette Hwy., Summit Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to carless discharge of a firearm and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year and $1,192.20 in fines/costs/restitution. Charges of reckless use of a firearm and hunting/shooting from a safe zone were dismissed.

-James Blair Drechen, 44, of 7401 S. Lakeshore Dr., Pentwater, pleaded guilty Feb. 21 to fishing with too many lines and was sentenced to pay $275 in fines/costs.

-Malcolm Andrew King, 30, of 9273 E. US 10, Branch Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 21 to allowing a person to drive in violation of the motor vehicle code and was sentenced to pay $335 in fines/costs.

-Gary Gordon Groth, 54, of 2989 W. Groth Rd., Victory Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 21 to having an insecure load and was sentenced to pay $175 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Mary Kay Hradel, 77, of 2030 E. Free Soil Rd., Free Soil Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 25 to driving with an expired license and was sentenced to pay $225 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Roberto Teran, 40, of 508 E. Danaher St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Feb. 22 to driving without a valid license and was sentenced to pay $225 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

Dismissals

-Jesse Allen Outwater, 34, of 313 N. Emily St., Ludington, had a charge of fourth degree child abuse dismissed without prejudice on Feb. 25 per a prosecutor’s deferral agreement.

-Justin Gerald Gerbers, 20, of 124 W. Filer St., Ludington, had a charge of assault to do great bodily harm less than murder dismissed without prejudice on Feb. 20.
