PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Mason County sheriff’s deputies are investing the death of a 77-year-old Ludington woman that occurred in the 1100 block of North Gary Street on Monday, Jan. 21.

Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene at 9:09 a.m. Dispatch information stated a woman was found unresponsive in a yard.

“Neighbors in the area had found the female and administered first aid until EMS, Pere Marquette Fire Department, and MCSO deputies arrived,” Sheriff Kim Cole said.  The woman was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital where she died.

“Investigation has revealed the victim had been visiting her mom and apparently fell while walking to her vehicle around 7 p.m. Sunday night.  Not being able to get back up, she laid in the snow and subzero temperatures until being discovered shortly after 9 a.m. Monday morning by a neighbor.”

The investigation is ongoing however, foul play is not suspected at this time, Cole said.
