United Way seeking requests for proposals from non-profits.

LUDINGTON — United Way of Mason County (UWMC) is accepting requests for proposals for the 2019-2020 funding cycle (April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020) from local non-profit organizations that are focusing on helping children to achieve their potential and working with individuals and families to be financially stable and improving people’s health. The deadline to submit is by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11.

The request for proposal document can be accessed by visiting www.masoncountyuw.org or calling the UWMC office at 231-843-8593.

Local volunteers will review each of the request for proposals submitted and recommend how the UWMC board of directors should award the money, according to UWMC Executive Director Lynne Russell.

When volunteers review the proposals, they are looking for the quality of services being delivered, achievement of identified outcomes, formation of partnerships with similar type organizations and fiscal responsibility, Russell said.

Fifteen local programs were awarded funding last year.

The dollars raised from UWMC’s fundraising campaign are the dollars used for awarding funds.

“If you haven’t had a chance to make a donation through United Way of Mason County’s fundraising campaign, it’s not too late and the Pennies from Heaven Foundation will match your gift dollar for dollar,” said Russell.

For more information about submitting a request for proposal or making a contribution, call 843-8593.
