Obituary: Orville Olson, 84, Ludington.

Orville John Olson, 84, of Ludington, formerly Beaver Dam, Wisc., passed away peacefully, Friday, January 4, 2019. Orv was born October 23, 1934 in Biscay, Min.. to Orville M. and Emma Elsie ((Karg) Olson. He graduated from Hopkins High School in 1952 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota.  Orv served his country in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He married L. Carole Faust on October 27, 1962 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Minn.

Orv was employed by 3M for 15 years, Green Giant/Pillsbury for 15 years, Stokely Foods in Scottville, for seven years, and National Fruit in Kent City for four years. He retired from the food processing profession in 2000.

In 1996 Orv was elected director of Michigan Food Processors Association as legislative chairman. He was a longtime member of the Michigan Snowmobile Association and a member of the board for many years. He was passionate about providing excellent trails for the enjoyment of Michigan snowmobilers. He also attended Crossroads Church in Custer.

Orv enjoyed spending time with his four grandsons, fishing and hiking at the Ludington State Park. He had a real passion for fixing equipment and snowmobiling.

Orv will be greatly missed by his wife, L. Carole Olson of Ludington; his daughters, Gretchen (Mark) Luce of Ludington and Joanne (Tatsuji) Ebihara of Lombard, Ill.; his grandchildren, Will and Cooper Luce, and Sam and Paul Ebihara; and his brother, Howard Olson of Minneapolis, Minn.

Orv was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Emma Elsie (Karg) Olson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington. Family will greet friends starting at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Orv’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his wife, L. Carole Olson.
