Obituary: Mabel Ann Polcin, 92, of Ludington

Mabel Ann Polcin, 92 of Ludington passed away on December 30, 2018 surrounded by her family at home.  She was born on March 31, 1926 in Ludington, daughter of the late Martin and Antonia (Yeck) Polcin. Mabel graduated Ludington High School in 1943.  She retired from Star Watch Case after 36 years and subsequently became owner and president of Gunberg’s Appliance for 39 years. Mabel enjoyed vacationing with family members and residing on the farm where she was born.  She was actively involved in both church and community affairs.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Simon Catholic Church.

Mabel is survived by sisters-in-law Judy Polcin and Lucille Polcin both of Ludington and 26 nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; fiancé, Leo Gunberg; brothers Raymond, Lawrence and Joseph; sisters Arlene Luskin and Lorraine Kacynski.

A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with the Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler Jr. presiding.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass at the church also, at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in the spring of 2019.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be written in memory of Mabel to either the Ludington Area Catholic School education foundation or to the Anni Kacynski Scholarship Fund c/o UW-Green Bay Foundation, UW-Green Bay CL805, 2420 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, Wis., 54311-7001.
