Obituary: Shirley Dust, 91, Ludington.

Shirley Corabelle Dust, 91, of Ludington, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 21, 2018.  

Shirley was born on July 29, 1927 in Horne Township, Mich., the daughter of George and Leota (Sanderson) Rayle.  She graduated from Free Soil High School in 1944 and married the love of her life, Clarence Dust, on November 3, 1945.  Shirley loved her life as a wife and mother, and spent many years operating Dusty’s Cabins with her husband. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church of Ludington and her writers’ group, The Write People.  Shirley enjoyed going to yoga at the senior center and writing poetry and stories.

Shirley was a devout Christian who made an impact on everyone she met. She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother and the matriarch of the family. She will be deeply missed by many.

Shirley is survived by two children, Richard (Beverly) Dust and Amber (Samuel David) Davis; grandchildren, Jeffery (Loretta) Dust, Shari (Kip) McCray, Stacey (Marshall) Juers, Sarah (Ben) Johnson, Melanie Dust, Andria (Matt Breitels) Dust, Ryan Cole, Jordan (Catie) Cole, and Brittany Cole; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Lessman; and sister-in-law, Lucille Rayle.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leota; husband, Clarence Dust; children, Sharon, Ronald and Nancy Dust; great-great granddaughter, Madison Monroe; and siblings, Beverly Burdin, Richard Rayle, and John (Katherine) Rayle.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Ludington, with visitation starting at 10:00 am.  Visitation will also be held on Friday December 28, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
