Hospital honors veterans
LUDINGTON — Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital held its annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. The ceremony included speaker Fred Reader, Jr. , a U.S. Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Reader is an emergency medical technician at Life EMS and also a firefighter/EMT with Pere Marquette Township Fire Department. He was one of eight who received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Eastern Afghanistan on Aug. 15, 2012. The event also included a flag raising with Eddie Makowicki, hospital pharmacist and U.S. Navy veteran, along with Michael Flippen, hospital emergency department nurse and U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
