Emergency personnel rescue woman from water-filled car in ditch.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Firefighters and EMS personnel rescued a 90-year-old Midland woman after she drove her car into a ditch on the southwest corner of US 10-31 and Stiles Road Monday evening. The crash occurred about 6 p.m. According to Mason County Sheriff Sgt. Jeremy King, the woman, who has dementia, was driving westbound on US 10-31, drove past the traffic light and turned left, driving into the ditch. Water began to fill her vehicle as emergency personnel arrived.

She was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Scottville Fire Department, and Life EMS.
