VanderWall easily wins 35th senate seat.

Curt VanderWall will be the next state senator to represent this area. The Ludington Republican easily defeated his opponents, Democrat Mike Taillard and Libertarian Timothy Coon. VanderWall received 72,739 (63%) of the votes, Taillard received 39,989 (35%) and Coon received 3,035 (3%).

Currently VanderWall is the representative of the 101st Michigan House of Representatives district. Beginning Jan. 1, he will represent the 35th Michigan Senate district.

“I feel great,” VanderWall said this morning while picking up campaign signs. “I am excited and honored to serve the 35th. I’m looking forward to getting to work and building the relationships we need.

“It’s a humbling experience to go through an election.”
