PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Battery D Civil War re-enactment group will be setting up camp at Historic White Pine Village and demonstrating Civil War re-enactments of small arms, medical practices at the turn of the century, and of course live canon fire on Saturday, June 23.  The battery will be dressed in uniform with their historic camp sites up and cooking over camp fires.
The Village is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., ticket sales close at 3:30 p.m. though.
Additionally, there will be volunteers in the Village interpreting life as it was lived in the late 1800s to early 1900s.  Witness farmhouse style cooking on a wood-burning stove, hear stories of the life of a trapper’s wife, purchase old-fashioned candy sticks out of the general store and much more.
