Obituary: Nancy Smedley, 77, Ludington.

Nancy A. Smedley, 77, of Ludington passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. She was born September 10, 1940 in Ludington to Benjamin and M. Arlene (McCoy) Harrington. Nancy graduated from Ludington High School and began her career as a caretaker. Aside from raising and caring for her children, Nancy worked for Oakview Medical Care Facility, West Michigan Community Mental Health, and as a guardian/conservator for many in her community. She was an active member of Prayer and Praise Assembly of God where she participated in Bible study and many other activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, walking, cribbage, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy also loved to travel and had seen many places across the United States.

Nancy will be greatly missed by her children, Nancy Joyce (Art) Strejcek, Karen Petersen, Bob (Anita) Peters, John (Dawn) Peters, and Jeff (Raykel) Peters; her two stepchildren, Billy Smedley and Michael Smedley; her 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Jesse, Caleb, Benjamin, Carlyle, William, Josh, Bobby, John, Tim, Azrea, and Alex; her 10 great grandchildren, Oliver, Enoch, Kyle, Brandon, Trevor, Damien, Malia, Calli, Emmet, and Theodore, her brother, Jim (Ayako) Harrington; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Bill Smedley, whom she married on September 11, 1982 in Custer; her brother, Benjamin Harrington; her stepchildren, Frank Smedley and Heather Smedley; and her infant granddaughter, Marcia Lessard.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 6pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ludington.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be directed to Oak Grove Funeral Home, 3060 W. US 10, Ludington MI 49431 to assist with funeral expenses. Excess funds will be given to the local Special Olympics.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington.
