SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old Ludington woman received non-life-threatening injuries after the vehicle she was driving flipped over in the 400 block of East Sugar Grove Road east of US 31. The Chevrolet Equinox SUV was eastbound on Sugar Grove Road when it appeared to have lost control due to slushy road conditions. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped over onto its top as it struck a tree and landed in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, missing a gravestone. Emergency units were dispatched to the scene about 11:40 a.m.

The driver, who was by herself, called 911 as she was trapped inside the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Fountain Area Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance.
