LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Dana Jo Hull, 46, 6960 E. First St., Branch Twp., was convicted by the court March 16 of assault and battery and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must have a mental health evaluation and follow recommendations; 10 hours of community service; no contact with victim; and $895 in fines and costs. May perform an additional 30 hours of community service for $300 credit for fines and costs.

– Margaret Jeanne Hooyman, 27, of 20 N. Clymer St., Pentwater, was found guilty March 13 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment/DUI2 class; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of the Victim Impact Panel (VIP); no alcohol/drugs; subject to random Preliminary breath tests (PBTs); and $895 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Gordon Vaughn Briggs, 63, of 662 N. Tuttle Rd., Custer Township, was found guilty March 19 of selling a deer management assistance program license and was sentenced to $285 in fines and costs.

– Allene Marie Sharnowski, 53, of 811 S. Walhalla Rd., Branch Township, was found guilty March 12 of allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $335 in fines and costs.

– Kayla Jean Johnson, 25, of 494 S. Pere Marquette Hwy., Pere Marquette Township, was found guilty March 13 of third-degree retail fraud (shoplifting) and was sentenced to 40 days in jail with credit for 33 days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must follow drug testing requirements of the Michigan Department of Corrections; $5.55 in restitution; and $725 in fines and costs.

– Mark Allen VanDyke, 54, of 609 E. Danaher St., Ludington, was found guilty March 13 of third-degree retail fraud (shoplifting) and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; $660 in fines and costs or perform community service; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs.

– Tammy Lynn Schipper, 47, of 9453 N. Brooks Rd., Irons, was found guilty March 13 of attempted third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 45 days discretionary jail for one year; $27.70 in restitution; and $645 in fines and costs.

Dismissals

– Shellby Autumn Walton, 22, of 143 George Washington Dr., Amber Township, one count of operating without insurance was dismissed March 6 after defendant pleaded to a lesser charge.

– Sheila Leigh Shepler, 51, of 209 W. 1st St., Amber Township, one count of OWI was dismissed March 6 after defendant pleaded to a lesser charge.
