Man covered in deer blood fights deputies.

Sheriff Cole: ‘You’re correct, you can’t make this stuff up.’

CUSTER TOWNSHIP — A 62-year-old Scottville man “covered in blood” following a car/deer crash allegedly rushed at Mason County sheriff’s deputies and then fought with them Monday, Nov. 13, shortly before 3 p.m. according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The man was arrested for resisting and opposing police in the 400 block of East US 10 following a bizarre series of events.

The man was arrested following a 911 report from the Scottville EZ Mart reporting a man behind the business “covered in blood,” Cole said. “Deputies arrived and learned from witnesses this subject had wandered around the business and entered a car and sat in the back seat. He then left and reportedly went to a trailer next door.

“Deputies found blood in the yard, steps and front door of the trailer. Deputies knocked and made contact with the 62-year-old man who reportedly rushed at the deputies screaming at them. He then fought with deputies in the yard.

“Deputies eventually made contact with a total of four persons, all of whom were intoxicated, and learned the blood had come from a deer that had been struck and killed by a car in front of their home. Apparently the four had cut meat off the carcass and were cooking venison.

“You’re correct, you can’t make this stuff up,” said Cole.
