Road closure at Decker and Stephens.

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — The intersection of Decker and Stephens roads will be closed beginning Friday, Oct. 13. The project was originally scheduled to in September but was delayed.

Construction will include removal of the two existing 25-feet long by 21-feet wide and 20-feet long by 21-feet wide single-span steel I-beam bridges that were reconstructed in 1976.  A new concrete box culvert will be 97-feet long by 20-feet wide and 8-feet tall single-span with precast concrete headwalls and wingwalls.

The $609,000 project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Mason County Road Commission.

Traffic will be detoured by the contractor, Wonsey Tree Service, Inc. of Alma. The detour will include Custer, Sugar Grove, Hansen and Reek roads.

The project is anticipated to take eight weeks.
